Welcome to 2008, and to The Beauty Ideal, a wonderful new initiative from the Beauty Blog Network! This month our theme is “A New Beginning” which is super-appropriate for the New Year, and for the introduction of our wonderful new beauty magazine!

At the beginning of a year there are so many things to look back upon from the year gone by, things that were new at the beginning seem like old hat by the end. 2007 was definitely the year of the blog as observed by everyone from Time magazine down to us “regular folk.” If you didn’t know what a blog was on January 1st of last year, you probably are very familiar with them now. How exciting for us to get to be a part of that! And beauty and fashion have been at the forefront of blogging, to the benefit of all the people out there that are just as passionate about beauty as we writers are. Global cosmetic companies and small beauty start ups have all embraced blogging like nobody’s business, making beauty blogging a win-win for everyone!

There have been tons of new advances in beauty this year, from home laser treatments to cosmeceuticals to big strides forward in hair styling technology. Who would have thought that there was room to grow so much in hair dryer and flat iron technology? Eco-friendly products came into the limelight this past year, with no signs of slowing down for 2008, and the huge boom in mineral makeup shows us that even good old color cosmetics still have great room for progress.

When you sit back and consider all of the new products and technology advancements we had last year, you cannot help but be reminded that the goals are the same as they have always been. Women love to be beautiful, and they want products and services that get them results. That was true in 1900 and it is true in 2008. Keep an eye on the Beauty Blog Network, and The Beauty Ideal in 2008, I promise you that we will be at the forefront announcing everything new and improved in the beauty genre. So here is to a wonderful and beautiful 2008 - I can’t wait to see what is in store for us all!
