This winter is all about the classic red lip with a twist–super glossy or a seductive ruby red. Oh, the classic, matte red lip is still around, but ladies are having fun with it by deepening the trademark red to red-raspberry hues or warmer, orange-based reds. If it isn’t scarlet pouts we’re seeing, it’s also the smoky eye in a range of bronzes, warm chocolate browns, and soft greys.
The hot smoky eye is not dressed all in black, nor is it always monochromatic; it is fun and playful with touches of warm holiday golds on inner tear ducts or coppery bronzes on the lower lash line. We are seeing soft shimmery lids over ultra-matte looks this season, and eyeliner choices vary from the deepest blacks to softer, navies. Even nails are delicately coated in holiday reds and rubies, but glistening sapphires and iridescent teals are becoming seasonal favorites. But really, it’s all about taking the classics and revamping them with a hot new gloss in ruby slipper red or adding a rich navy shadow to your famous smoky eye.
