Preparing your Makeup Bag for Spring

By Julia Coney • March 1st, 2008

It’s so hard for me to clean out my makeup bag. Every time I try, I keep adding more products. The best way for me to get my makeup bag ready for spring is to start with a new makeup bag. I am currently in love with all cosmetic bags by Felix Rey. They make some of the cutest bags that are well constructed, come in three sizes, and leave a lasting impression in my handbag. Because the bags are so colorful they do not disappear in the abyss of my massive tote.

The next step is to make sure I have a few basics such as a:

  • hand sanitizer,
  • band-aids,
  • blotting paper,
  • small mirror,
  • lip brush, and
  • tissue.

I don’t carry any other makeup except lip products. I don’t reapply my face, eyes, or cheeks. I always have a makeup bag at my desk for evenings out after work. I am a lip gloss fanatic, but I try not to overload my bag with too many glosses.

For me, I need to carry at least one lipstick and two lip glosses at all time. I try to vary the shade of the glosses, therefore, one lip gloss in the nude color family and the other in the red or pink color family. For lipstick I always carry a deep red. Why? If you ever need to go out in the evening, you only have to update your lip color and you are ready to go.

  1. I have only come to love cosmetic bags where I can see everything inside. Thanks for the heads up about the Felix Rey line!
