Myth 1: You only need to moisturize your face.
If Nora Ephron’s book, I Feel Bad About My Neck isn’t a cautionary tale, I don’t know what is. Currently I’m hydrating my neck with My Blend Stress Management Day Lotion. This cream strikes the balance between controlling adult acne while acknowledging that I would also like to keep fine lines at bay. This line of products created by Dr. Olivier Courtin offers more than 500 possible combinations based on your skin’s needs at every age and stress level. The basic packages focus on categories like oil control, age prevention, and age antidote.

Myth 2: You need to apply concealer first.
I find that blemishes and undereye circles remain undercover when I apply concealer over my foundation. I leave this step last, especially if I’m applying a smoky eye. Lately, I’m loving Laura Mercier Secret Concealer. This moisture-infused creamy secret weapon neutralizes dark circles and discoloration.

Myth 3: You need powder.
If you read my blog, you know how anti powder I am. I won’t let it near me, save for eye shadow. Powder ages you by drying out your skin and settling into fine lines. If you simply use a good primer instead, you’ll combat shine and retain a youthful dewy glow. Who doesn’t want that? I recommend you get ready for your close-up with Cargo blu-ray Mattifier, a primer created for high-definition film. This luxe, oil-free creamy liquid can be applied either over or under makeup to minimize pores, lines and oil.

Another phenom choice? Becca Mineral SPF 30 Primer.

Also oil-free, this stuff glides on easily for a smooth, matte finish, sun protection and moisturizing properties. Includes hyaluronic acid to hydrate in addition to green tea, white tea and vitamins A and E fight free radicals. I find it adheres to skin quickly and easily.
These three simple things I’ve gleaned from a lifetime of magazine reading and trial and error. Even if you can’t adopt all three, introducing one into your lifestyle will make a difference. I think you’ll find that myths are best left to the Romans and the Greeks.
